A New Season

We're wrapping up the first year of this new Commission, and it's been an experience to learn from. As has become the norm at Washtenaw, challenges this year were met with creativity and dedication by extraordinary staff. Our board has passed a 2008-09 budget that promises to help build the economic strength of our communities but is rife with challenges on the revenue side . . . Will the housing market maintain even the moderate growth we've predicted? . . .Will anticipated labor savings materialize without cutting our workforce? . . . Will the State be able to support human services with the same measure of grants we've seen in the past?
